Marco Bartoli graduated, with highest honors, from the F.Morlacchi Conservatory of Perugia, Italy in 2006, where he was supervised by Leonardo De Angelis.

In 2008, he won the Leandro Roscini Prize for best musician in Italy’s Umbria Region. He then performed with the Menna String Quartet, playing the M. Castelnuovo-Tedesco and L.Boccherini Quintets during Perugia’s Amici Della Musica concert season (2009/2010) at the Sala dei Notari.

Marco pursued postgraduate studies at the Musik Akademie der Stadt-Basel (Switzerland) with Professor Stephan Schmidt. As of 2012, he now holds Master’s degrees in both Music Performance and Instrumental Didactics. 


Marco has won several prizes in national and international guitar competitions, including the Tim and Hyperion competitions in Rome, the F.Jalenti competition in Terni, and the G.Rospigliosi competition in Pistoia. He has also won scholarships in the form of the Luigi Castellani and Marcello Cricchi Prizes.


He focuses his activity mainly on solo classical guitar, acoustic and electric jazz guitar , also in various ensembles and bands, which include: the Orchestra del Teatro Lirico Sperimentale "A.Belli", the Orchestra Sinfonica del Tuscia Operafestival, the Orchestra Collegium Musicum Basel, Gabriele Francioli Sax Quartet, Tenor Daniel Behle and his Ensemble, Menna Quartet, flautist Maruta Staravoitava, cellist Alessio Pianelli, guitarist Samuele Sorana, Sopran Lena Kiepenheuer, the “Four Corners” Jazz Band, among others. 


His last Album “La Danza” , a collection of Classical Dances from Barock to modern South American guitar music, is the first project where he started to combine different music languages and styles.


Marco has performed concerts in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Estonia, Finland, Denmark in many prestigious concert halls, giving Masterclasses for both Classical repertoire and Jazz improvisation for classical guitarist:  Helsinki Cathedral, Theodor Lessing Saal - Volkshochschule Hannover,  Auditorium of Musée musicals - Chennai (India), Mazda Hall - Pune (India), Chamber Music Hall (Estonian Music Academy), Auditorium of Italian Culture Institute (Copenhagen), Landesmuseum Württemberg (Stuttgart), Albert Ludwigs Universität (Freiburg), Historische Kaufhaus (Freiburg), Grosser Saal (Musik-Akademie Basel), Jazz Campus Basel (University for Jazz studies), Stadttheater (Olten), Teatro Caio Melisso (Spoleto), Palazzo Gallenga (Università per stranieri, Perugia), Sala dei Notari (Perugia), Auditorium Conservatorio "F. Morlacchi" (Perugia), Cattedrale di S.Pietro (Frascati), Palazzo delle Feste (Bardonecchia), etc. 


He teaches currently classical and jazz/pop guitar in Gymnasium Liestal (BL) and Musikschule Allschwil (BL), Switzerland.
